Chesterton Police Station

Larson-Danielson was proud to have been awarded the public construction contract for this new $5.6 million police station. The state-of-the-art, two-story, 10,850 square foot facility is designed to serve as a vital community hub and training center. The ground floor includes a secure lobby with public amenities, a versatile training room, patrol and processing rooms, and a sally port. On the upper floor, you’ll find administrative offices, an investigative department, evidence storage, and fitness facilities equipped with separate locker rooms, showers, restrooms, and a kitchenette/breakroom. This public construction project aims to enhance community programs and partnerships by offering a 28-person training room for local and neighboring police departments. Additionally, it provides essential separate locker rooms, restrooms, and shower facilities for male and female officers, addressing the need for modern upgrades over the current building.

Sigma Phi Epsilon Renovations

We’re the Construction Manager at Risk for a 22,000 square foot renovation at the Indiana Alpha Chapter Sigma Phi Epsilon building. The project is being completed in three phases: the third floor, the second floor, and the first floor and basement. The phased construction plan allows the building to remain occupied during construction. Construction began in March 2024 with the first phase of construction wrapping up in August 2024. The final phase is expected to be completed in January 2026.

Mishawaka Riverwalk Extension

 The Mishawaka Riverwalk extension is one of Larson-Danielson’s recent public construction projects. Situated along the picturesque banks of the St. Joseph River, from Logan Street to Cedar Street, this circular trail system offers an enhanced outdoor experience. In 2023, we completed the extension of the Riverwalk between Race and Cedar Street, featuring the newly added Marvin’s Garden. This beautiful garden pays tribute to Marvin “Marv” Wood, who became a cherished member of the Mishawaka community in 1969, and marks the eastern endpoint of the Mishawaka Riverwalk.

The Village at the MAAC Foundation Campus

Larson-Danielson, in collaboration with Facet Architecture, proudly led the Design/Build team for the MAAC Foundation’s Residential Village – a 12,200 square foot, cutting-edge training campus that exemplifies excellence in institutional construction. This innovative project features two tactical buildings crafted with Conex containers and wood framing on sturdy concrete foundations. The single-story structure includes a crawlspace with convenient interior and exterior access points, while the two-story building offers four bedrooms, a full basement, and an attic. Additionally, the campus boasts a canopy pavilion and a garage classroom, providing optimal spaces for gatherings and training sessions.

La Porte Fire Station # 3

Larson-Danielson is proud to have designed and constructed the state-of-the-art La Porte Fire Station #3, a standout example of innovative public and institutional construction. This 8,500 square foot facility breaks the mold of traditional fire stations with its unique design and thoughtful interior layout, prioritizing the health and safety of La Porte’s dedicated firefighters. A notable feature of this facility is the inclusion of a sauna, which aids in detoxification and cancer prevention for firefighters after their shifts. The expansive station also serves as a comprehensive training ground for the department and can function as a community shelter during emergencies or natural disasters. More than just a home for La Porte’s firefighters, this cutting-edge facility is a beacon of safety and preparedness for the entire community

The Exchange Building

This 6,500 square foot public construction project beautifully repurposes a former telephone exchange building into a versatile community hub. The space is designed to host a wide range of community events, classes, and meetings. It features state-of-the-art maker spaces for fiber arts, woodworking, digital fabrication, and 3-D printing. Additional amenities include meeting rooms, collaboration spaces, video and recording studios, storage solutions, and offices for library staff. While preserving the building’s historical charm, the interior showcases modern public construction elements like exposed ductwork and polished concrete floors.

Porter County Animal Shelter

Porter County officials embarked on an exciting public construction project to address the need for a new, modern animal shelter. Partnering with the expert design/build team of Larson-Danielson Construction and Facet Architecture, we created a state-of-the-art 16,000 square foot facility. This new public construction project is four times larger than the previous shelter, providing ample space for 120 dogs and 120 cats. The design includes distinct areas for large and small dogs, complete with access to outdoor runs, while spacious cat rooms allow cats to roam freely without cages. A cutting-edge air exchange system refreshes the interior air 10 times per hour, contributing to the facility’s healthy environment.

Howard Park Redevelopment

We are proud to served as the general contractor for an $18.8 million public park construction project at Howard Park, South Bend’s first and oldest park along the scenic St. Joseph River. This extensive renovation includes a 16,000-foot ice trail and pond, inviting fire pits, an accessible playground, a splash pad, scenic walking trails, and a versatile community/event center. The community/event center is designed to host up to 150 people, featuring a state-of-the-art AV system for seamless presentations. Achieving LEED-Gold certification, this 18,600 square foot public park construction project was completed in 2019, enhancing the park’s appeal and sustainability.
