On Friday, April 3, Larson-Danielson team members completed a hands-on community service project to support the City of La Porte Park & Recreation by helping clean up Fox Park and the trails surrounding Clear Lake and the Chessie Trail. Nine volunteers gave their time to remove litter and improve the area for residents and visitors who enjoy these shared public spaces. The City of La Porte provided the supplies for the effort, including grabbers, buckets, and gloves, while Larson-Danielson employees carried out the cleanup.
A Cleanup With Visible Results
The team met at the Fox Park Pavilion and spent the day removing litter from the trail system. Items collected included plastic and glass bottles, to-go drink cups, candy wrappers, and plastic grocery bags, along with several unexpected finds such as a pair of shoes, fishing gear, a waffle iron, foam insulation sheets, and golf balls.
Heather CyGan, Larson-Danielson Human Resources Generalist, coordinated the project in partnership with Mark Schreiber, Superintendent of the City of La Porte Park and Recreation Department. Their collaboration helped make the cleanup a practical, well-organized effort that delivered immediate results for the community.
Larson-Danielson Community Service
Community service has long been part of Larson-Danielson’s work. We have supported local projects through both financial contributions and employee volunteer efforts, reflecting a lasting commitment to the communities where our team members live and work.
That commitment continues today through projects that combine service, teamwork, and local partnership. Larson-Danielson community service efforts are designed to create meaningful impact while reinforcing the our belief that strong communities are built through steady involvement and shared responsibility.
First Fridays
The Fox Park cleanup was part of Larson-Danielson’s monthly First Fridays program, an employee initiative focused on training, team building, and community service. Each month, employees have the opportunity to step away from their regular routines and take part in a hands-on project that supports personal and professional growth.
First Fridays gives team members a regular way to contribute to the places where they live and work. The program also strengthens internal relationships by bringing employees together around a common purpose. Through projects like this one, Larson-Danielson continues to connect company culture with service in a way that is practical, consistent, and people-focused.
Building Stronger Communities
Larson-Danielson’s history shows that construction is only one part of its role in the region. The company has long believed in supporting the people and places that shape its success, and that belief remains central today.
The Fox Park cleanup is a clear example of what Larson-Danielson community service looks like in action: a small team, a shared goal, and a visible difference in a public space. It is one more way the company continues to build relationships that last.
