Four Winds Field Open House Builds Community Connections

Larson-Danielson Construction, in partnership with the City of South Bend, recently organized a minority/women/veteran-owned business/subcontractor open house for the upcoming $40 million renovation of Four Winds Field. This collaborative event took place on Wednesday, April 24th, in the Farmer Room at Howard Park, South Bend, Indiana.

The open house was a valuable opportunity for subcontractors eager to bid on this transformative project to learn more. With renovations set to kick off in September 2024 and wrap up by Spring 2026, the first round of bidding begins in early May 2024.

Advancing Diversity in the Construction Industry

The event particularly encouraged participation from minority-owned (MBE), women-owned (WBE), and veteran-owned (VBE) subcontractors at any tier, along with those interested in forming partnerships with these firms. One of the main objectives was to foster new connections within the local construction community.

“The whole point of the open house was to help make connections,” said Larson-Danielson President, Brian Larson. “And if we didn’t make a connection at the open house, we hope that anybody seeing this message would also reach out to us at L-D Construction.”

This open house demonstrated our dedication to inclusivity and local engagement in the Four Winds Field renovation. Larson-Danielson and the City of South Bend are excited to welcome subcontractors who are eager to make a meaningful impact on the local community through their contributions to this project.

At Larson-Danielson, we prioritize diversity and inclusion in construction by actively supporting minority-, veteran-, and women-owned businesses. Our commitment involves fostering strong communities through collaboration and continuous support to ensure the success of XBE companies, creating a sustainable and inclusive business environment for all.

Stadium Enhancements Promise Exciting New Experiences

Several exciting improvements are on the horizon for the stadium. The project will introduce a second deck featuring extra seating along with new suites, a vibrant new party deck, a club space, and a children’s area in left field. Additionally, the Pepsi Club on the second level will receive a modern update, among other improvements.

“We’re excited about the growth opportunities this project offers, even though we’re still in the initial phases,” stated Andrew Matura, project manager at Larson-Danielson. “This initiative highlights the commitment of both the City of South Bend and the South Bend Cubs organization to improving the community.”

During the upcoming off-season, the worn-out seats will be replaced, and the Kids Fun Zone and Splash Pad will be relocated. Work on the second deck of the ballpark will begin this year but will not be completed until 2026.

Join the Future of Four Winds Field

Four Winds Field is the home of the South Bend Cubs, a professional Minor League affiliate for the Chicago Cubs. When the expansion is complete, the stadium’s seating capacity will exceed 10,000, enhancing the experience for all fans.

As the Construction Manager as Constructor (CMc) for this project, Larson-Danielson Construction remains committed to building not just structures, but community and opportunity.
