Beth & Lou Holtz Grand Reading Room

Larson-Danielson served as the General Contractor for the renovation of the Beth & Lou Holtz Family Grand Reading Room, situated in the Hesburgh Library at the University of Notre Dame. The project transformed the Grand Reading Room into a comfortable space conducive for focused intellectual pursuits and collaborative work. This expansive two-story space encompasses 20,000 square feet, and is equipped with over 250 table seats for individual study and comfortable seating around an enclosed fireplace on the second floor. The space also features a new, dedicated stairwell which connects the first and second floors. The Grand Reading Room is now bathed in natural light, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. A stunning 100-pendant light installation suspended in the center of a new atrium adds to the room’s enchanting ambiance. With walls of windows, the space offers panoramic views of the west campus, including the spire of the Basilica and the Dome of the Main Building.
